Hardest challenge thus far is having to remind myself, you just can't. Regardless of what you want to tell to who and why. You just can't. It's a little voice. It's easier knowing I chose this and it will make me happier!

Big Boy School
Today was Chord's first day at preschool. I can't believe my baby boy is already in preschool! I feel like I just brought him home yesterday, but alas he is 17-months-old. I can't imagine what the next few years have in store for me!
He was suprisingly good, too. When we got there the other kids were having their snack. He got his snack too. It consisted of "fifies" and "cakes" (goldfish and marshmallows). He had his cup of milk to go along. He wanted to play trucks with the boys while eating his snack. Luckily his teacher is his Yaya, so she understands his busy body needs. Yaya said he did really well all day today. He played well with the two-year-olds and three-year-olds. He even played some with the four-year-olds. She did say he would look out the window and say, "My momma", indicating he wanted to know where his momma was. He still didn't cry though.
Finally, at nap time he agreed to lay down on the cot with his blanket. However, once all of the other kids got quiet he decided napping was not what he wanted to do. He thought his time would be much better spent running through the school and/or screaming. Yaya tried rocking him and occupying his time with no avail. I knew this would be the most difficult part of the transition. He has never wanted to sleep anywhere except in his room in his crib or with me or mom in our beds. He wouldn't even sleep in his pack and play at my grandparents house. Nevertheless, it is a transition he will make at some point. He's such a big boy!
I love how active Chord is. I love how busy he is, too. He's constantly going and learning new things. He loves to talk. He loves to find new things. He loves to try and be a little adult. Watching him grow up has been such a continuous blessing. I can't wait to continue on into our future together! My baby boy isn't such a baby anymore! :D

Christina Meet SPD!
Well, I have never been in trouble. I've only been pulled over one time in my driving life. Other than that, I've NEVER come into contact with the police - with the exception of MVAs. Today was definitely a first.
I was walking out of Brookshire's after getting Chord's food for the month and our dinner supplies for tonight. Next to my car was a girl standing by the back end of her vehicle. I could clearly see she was a good 6+ months pregnant. I was rearranging stuff in the back end of my car so my carryout could put the groceries in for me. I turned around to grab my diaper bag and keys. The pregnant girl was standing with her hands on my buggy facing Chord. (Chord was in his car seat on the buggy asleep.) Then I see it. She is smoking a cigarette. A good 7 months pregnant. Standing in front of my sleeping baby. I politely asked her to back up because I don't smoke around my son and I don't allow others to smoke around him either. She got all "white girl ghetto" on me and told me "it ain't gonna do nuttin to him." I was getting frustrated. I asked her again to move so I could put him in my car. She said the same thing again. This time I wasn't so nice. I said, "Look, you can feel free to smoke around your child and put his health at risk, but my son is healthy. I'd like to keep it that way. Please. Move." The carryout was getting a little nervous, so he quickly finished putting my groceries in my car and was waiting for me to get Chord so he could take my buggy. The girl still didn't move so I put myself in between her and my buggy. You would've thought I just knocked the girl's teeth down her throat. She starts freaking out, screaming at the top of her lungs, "This bitch hit me. She put her hands on me!" As I was trying to unlock Chord's car seat from the buggy, the Brookshire's manager walks up and asks if there is a problem. At the same time one aisle a Shreveport Police detective pulls him. He gets out and hears the girl yelling and the manager trying to calm her down. They're standing behind my car at this point so I can't go anywhere. I put Chord into my car - still sound asleep - as the police officer walked up. He called in to dispatch through is radio. He asked what was going on, and all she kept screaming was "That bitch hit me! She put her hands on me!" I just stood there shaking my head. He walked over and asked what happened. He said if I did hit her, for any reason, I could be arrested. I told him what happened and said, "If you have to take me to jail for protecting my son, please let me call my mom and dad who are five minutes down the road to pick up my son." Then he asked her if that's what happened. She said, "Yeah. But it ain't gonna do nuttin to him. He'll be fine. She juss paranoid." He told me I could go and wrote her a warning for disturbing the peace.
It was quite an adventure. My little man slept through the whole thing. But I mean really? You're pregnant. You're smoking. And you have the nerve to smoke in front of my child!
Ugh. People.

Photography
Mom and I are doing great with the photography! Things are really starting to pick up!
What I don't understand is how much business we are still losing! There are some AMAZING photographers around, but Mom and I desire to be AMAZING and affordable! I just can't imagine paying almost $3,000 for a wedding photographer. If I am worried about my wedding as it is, another $3,000 for a photographer is going to stress me even more. It's truly amazing how competitive the business is, and how judgmental other photographers can be! I'm really hoping things continue going good though!
On another note, Chord will be 6 months old tomorrow. Less than 48 hours. I am so AMAZED at how fast he has grown and time has passed. He is beautiful in every single way. He is the most amazing thing God has ever blessed me with. I cherish each and everyday that I have with him. He grows more and more everyday. He is learning new words, movements, facial expressions, etc. He is trying to crawl so I know he will be going before I know it. I love him to death and wouldn't trade him for the world.
Matt and I are also doing wonderfully. We didn't get Tie the Knot, but we have a wedding date and are moving vigorously towards it. We plan to be married on October 15, 2011! I cannot wait. I honestly feel like things are different this time since he is putting in SO much effort. He makes me feel special and he is working really hard.
Life is going great, and I wouldn't change a thing right now!

The Bad Comes with the Good
The simple statement - "The bad comes with the good" - has never held SO true in my life! Last Thursday, Matt and I ordered my new engagement ring. SO exciting. We also decided we'd apply for the Tie The Knot contest hosted by KTBS 3! SO exciting. Friday, I had to take Chord to the doctor because he was really congested and wheezing. NOT exciting. The doctor decided he has a virus AND possibly asthma. NOT exciting. She said we have to do breathing treatments every three hours for five days. NOT exciting. Chord hates them. He cries like he is terrified, and looks at me with eyes that scream "Mommy, please help me. Why, Mommy, why?" It breaks my heart - which might I add is NOT exciting. So I've been dealing with that since Friday. Sunday I woke up congested and with a cough. Do I need to tell you which side of the spectrum this is on? I've only gotten progressively worse since then! Today I ended up calling the doctor for some medication. She called me in a Z-pac & Phenergan cough syrup - believe it or not this is exciting! Chord is still doing his breathing treatments but he is doing a little better with them which is also exciting. The biggest high light of my day though was my ring arriving at 11:30 AM this morning! It is still in a FedEx box which is slightly less exciting than I'd like, but as soon as Matt gets here I get it and I will get to wear it which will be SUPER exciting!
All in all, I guess things are okay. We're pretty booked (almost double booked) for Saturday which is GREAT! We have two sessions Sunday which is also pretty awesome. Photography is going amazing!
Last night I got word from a friend of mine that she'd like me to do an AMAZING photo session for her hubby! I can't wait because I think she and I will have a blast with it! Even if I don't get to share it with the world, I feel AWESOME knowing that I am doing something for them as a couple, AND that we are going to have some great girl time!

I Said Yes!
Matt and I got engaged on July 27, 2007. It has always been a very memorable and important day for me. I had just found out that I had stage 1A cervical cancer, and was going to have minor, in-office surgery to kill the cancerous cells. Matt and I had only been dating a month and a week, but he was SO supportive and extremely positive regarding the whole situation. Two days before he told me he was in Mississippi installing glass in a building for a job they got at work. I didn't get to see him until the weekend. That day we went to a movie with Hannah, Kendall, Mom, Dad, and Erik. Then we went to Chuck E. Cheese's - where I was working - and ate pizza and played games. Matt bought Kendall a light up wand; Hannah and I got teddy bears with Chuck E. Cheese hoodies. When we got to the house I went to change clothes and when I went to go back into the kitchen I was told I wasn't allowed in there. I got my feelings hurt, so I went in to watch a movie with Hannah and Kendall in Nana and Pawpaw's living room. Shortly after, Mom and Matt called me into the kitchen. I refused to go in there. They then called Hannah in and tried to convince her to convince me to come in there. After much poking, dragging, and begging I gave in and went to see what they wanted. When I got in there Matt started his little speech about how he loved me and wanted to be with me forever. He then pulled me in close, gave me a hug, told me to close my eyes, and when I opened them he was down on one knee, in my grandparent's kitchen, with the ring of my dreams. She was a solitaire 1/4 carat princess cut diamond on 14K white gold Tiffany's band! It was amazingly beautiful. About 2 1/2 years later, Matt and I got into a seriously heated argument, I gave him the ring back, and when I tried to leave I caught his hand between his truck bed and my car door. He opened his hand by reflex and the ring got lost. He and I have waited quite a while to replace her.
Last week we decided we would enter the second annual Tie the Knot contest here in Shreveport. We then decided if we don't win, we'd set our own wedding date and start planning our wedding for that date. I wanted a ring ever since mine got lost, so he decided it was something he'd do for me. He told me I could pick her out and we could get whatever I wanted! I've always LOVED black diamonds and always wanted an engagement ring that was different and unique. None of my friends or family have black diamond engagement rings. I picked her out a few days ago, flip flopped a little, and finally made my decision and placed my order tonight. Hopefully she will be here at my house no later than Thursday afternoon!

Here she is! 1 ct. t.w. on 14K white gold. All diamonds are round cut. The white diamonds have colorless clarity with no blemishes! It is simply stunning!
I love my Matt and can't wait to marry him!

Welcome
Welcome!
I wanted to welcome everyone to my blog. I tried this a couple times before, but with all the things going on now, I thought I'd give it another shot.
Here's a little about me:
I am 21-years-old, and mother to a beautiful baby boy. I plan on sharing all of his triumphs as well as his failures throughout the years here. Watching him grow is simply astonishing to me, and I simply adore each and every minute of the life we have together. I am dating the man of my dreams - and even though we have had some pretty rough times, some down right horrible times, I am still madly in love with him, and have high hopes for our future together. I simply refuse to give up just because everyone says I should! I am also a full-time student at Bossier Parish Community College. I am doing everything I can to give my son the life he deserves. I simply want the very best for him, and I know that my education is one of the only ways he can ever have that life.
I want this blog to be my place. You're more than welcome to join me, and to voice your opinions. However, I'd like for you to know up front, I have my opinions and I will voice them. I have no intentions of ever apologizing for the way I feel or for the things I say. If you have problems with me or the things I stand for, please, keep them to yourself.
I am looking forward to this journey, and I am thankful you have come to help me carry it through!
